About Us

Education is the basis of growth and change. Moon School of Music is dedicated to providing a kind of education that ensures integrity and accountability that fosters excellence and inspiration, in which growth and change can flourish. Our vision is to be a nest for our community where social and cultural differences can come together through music.

We acknowledge the importance of quality, diverse methods and styles of teaching, and the responsibility to educate – to nourish and to lead one in order to have the knowledge and the experiences to ultimately form his/her own. At its core, it is our promise and our commitment to provide a music education you can trust.

Established in 2016 in the heart of Fairfax, Moon School of Music is a contemporary piano school specializing in piano performance and education for all ages and levels. From Classical to Jazz, we provide a place of creativity, discipline, and inspiration. Whether your dream is to play in front of thousands, for friends in the living room, or just for your enjoyment, our systemized and individually tailored curriculum will help you reach your goal.

We have two goals. One is to teach and inspire you to speak freely on the piano through the platform of music. Two, we want to be that special teacher you never forget.

Listening actively, teaching passionately, and playing confidently.

Let us be your inspiration.

Joseph Moon – Director

Jazz to Pop, Joseph is a versatile and well-versed pianist. His expressions on the piano resonate through rich harmony and melodic transparency in many genres of music. He has shared stages with exceptionally noted musicians like George Russell Jr., Yoron Israel, Jeff Ramsay, and “Jim Peterson and the groove-junkies,” and has toured and recorded with an urban contemporary gospel group, Ashmont Hill, as their music director and keyboardist. Joseph also starred as a keyboardist for Boston’s premier wedding band Centerstage; covering 60s music to today’s top 40s on billboards.

Starting at a young age as an accompanist for his junior high, Joseph demonstrated a special talent in piano performance and later was announced the recipient of the best accompanist award by Virginia Music Education Association. He currently serves as a Fairfax County Public School accompanist, under the sponsorship of Jeanne Crowley – choir director at Carl Sandburg Middle School.

Joseph met Page while studying at Berklee College of Music and the two tied the knot. He also holds a B.S in biology, loves pizza, and enjoys playing golf.

Page Moon – Co-director

Born and raised in Alaska, Page Moon is an accomplished pianist and educator. Page fell in love with the sound of the piano when she first heard her mother play and began piano lessons at the age of five. She was a part of the Spirit of Youth Radio Series for “One piano-Four hands”, and also had her interview and performance aired live on the Kansas Public FM Radio.  Page has participated in master classes with Olga Kern, Garrick Ohlsson, Paul Pollei, John McCarthy, Fei Xu, Bernadene Blaha and more. With the guidance of her mentor, Svetlana Velitchko, Page was a senior national finalist for the Music Teacher National Association Competition in both performance and duet categories and won second prize at the 2007 Cincinnati World Piano Competition, which led to her Carnegie Hall debut. Furthermore, she was awarded the “Classical Pianist Award” from Berklee College of Music. She believes that everyone has a unique voice, and as a teacher, she strives to help discover within each of her students.

Page has studied at New England Conservatory and holds a B.M. from Berklee College of Music in music business and piano performance, and a minor in psychology.
