A native of Northern Virginia, Alejandro Galdo began studying piano at the age of five and quickly discovered a passion for the instrument. By high school, he had distinguished himself in competitions such as the Lions Club Piano Competition and the Nancy Peery Marriott Competition before he was admitted to the Summer Piano Institute at Ithaca College, where he studied under Dr. Phiroze Mehta and Dr. Dmitri Novgorodsky. He would go on to earn his Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance at Ithaca College, where he was active as a collaborative pianist, performing with vocalists, instrumentalists, and groups including the Ithaca College Wind Symphony and Wind Ensemble.

Alejandro continued his studies at Boston University’s College of Fine Arts, completing a Master’s degree under the guidance of Pavel Nersessian and Dr. Jihye Chang-Sung. While in Boston, he performed regularly with the Boston University Symphony Orchestra (BUSO), the Boston University Chamber Orchestra (BUCO), and the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra (BYSO), in addition to serving as a pianist and organist for several local churches and teaching piano in the Boston area.

Teaching has long been a central part of Alejandro’s musical life. He first began working with students at the Summer Sonatina International Piano Camp while still in high school before formally studying piano pedagogy at Ithaca College under Dr. Laura Amoriello. Since then, he has taught at institutions in both Northern Virginia and Boston including the Moon School of Music, the North End Music and Performing Arts Center (NEMPAC), and Page Music Lessons, working with pianists of all ages and levels.

As a teacher, Alejandro believes that lasting musicianship grows from both discipline and joy. He helps students develop the technical foundation and habits necessary for long-term growth, while always fostering a warm and supportive environment where creativity and curiosity can thrive. He’s extremely excited to continue helping every student to not only build skill and confidence at the piano, but to also help them cultivate a sustainable and lifelong love for music.
