Moon School of Music

Originally from Puerto Rico, Ian Roa is a versatile session guitarist and music educator with seven years of teaching experience. His academic background reflects his dual passions for popular music and music education. Ian holds an undergraduate degree in Classical Guitar Performance from the Puerto Rico Music Conservatory and a Master’s in Popular Music Practice (Entrepreneurship) from BIMM in London. He has taught at various music schools in both San Juan, Puerto Rico, and London, UK.

During his studies at the Puerto Rico Music Conservatory, Ian had the opportunity to participate in masterclasses with renowned guitarists such as Roland Dyens, Solo Duo (Matteo Mela and Lorenzo Micheli), René Izquierdo, and Manuel Barrueco.

Ian has performed alongside London-based artists Matilda Gracia and Maria Moss, as well as Nashville-based artist Lucy-May, among others. He maintains a busy recording schedule, playing acoustic, classical, and electric guitars, as well as bass, primarily for pop music projects. Alongside his performing career, Ian is a dedicated full-time educator, sharing his knowledge and passion for music with students of all levels.
