Zoe Xu is a pianist and pedagogue. She finished a master’s degree in piano performance at George Mason University and bachelor’s degree in piano pedagogy from Central China Normal University. Zoe first started to learn music in a choir when she was eight years old. Her parents wanted her to learn music because they knew musical training improves long-term memory and promotes brain development. When she was in middle school, she started studying the piano and vocal music. Zoe has been teaching piano and music lessons since 2014. In addition, she also works as a Montessori teacher at Kid’s World in Falls Church, VA.

During her time in college, she went to Europe with her college choir to attend a choral festival in Austria and Hungary. In this experience, she observed and learned more about music education in Europe, and realized piano is important for music education. In furthering her music learning journey, she chose to study piano pedagogy, and thus gained a lot of music and piano teaching experience. Also, she trained in Dalcroze eurhythmics and the Kodály method which are both different approaches to music education. In these trainings, she learned to design music and piano lessons more scientifically in combination with children’s developmental abilities and learning skills.
